Stewart is a presenter and online educator for YouTube’s Drone Film Guide. Together with his wife Alina, as a husband and wife team, Stewart and Alina have spent the last decade building two video production companies shooting all manner of content from music videos to corporate promos to wedding films. As early adopters of drone technology in 2014, having accumulated and enormous library of aerial footage, YouTube’s Drone Film Guide was born in 2017.
The iconic ‘Pointy Mountain’ in Glencoe, Scottish Highlands. It’s rare to witness a clear blue sky like this when ‘up north’ but whilst the original image is striking, the sky is a little flat. We played around with numerous replacement skies when editing this image and settled on this subtle yet emotive result.
We captured this low-level RAW photo with the DJI Mavic Air but struggled to recover enough detail in the original sky given the limitations of the drone’s camera. By picking a similar replacement sky in Luminar we have achieved a natural yet spectacular result of this incredible building on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland.
We narrowly missed the low evening sun for this shot of Castle Lachlan in the Scottish Highlands and as a consequence, the original shot is a little uninspiring. Careful to match the replacement sky with the original image, we uploaded one of our dramatic skies - a shot taken at a similar time of day but with much more spectacular results. It’s a strong look but we’re pleased with the result and the way the AI Sky Replacement weaves the replacement sky through the tree branches is incredible.
