In this Skylum original video, you’ll get a behind the scenes look at the challenges faced by professional photographer Jack Fusco and the Skylum team during their adventure to the Big Island of Hawaii. There, they work to capture the 61G lava flow under the stars as it enters the ocean through a series of unknowns. Challenges include a torrential downpour, less than ideal conditions, and longer than anticipated hikes to get to their viewing points (and even, a plume of hydrochloric acid shifting towards them). Though it isn’t exactly what they had planned when headed to the Big Island, the team makes the most of their three nights there and gathers some amazing footage.
