In this Skylum original video, venture to South America’s Patagonia region with professional nature photographer Ian Plant. He’s discussing the key to professional landscape photos — having a compelling and interesting foreground. The stuff that’s right at your feet, Ian says, will draw the viewer into your scene and create amazing photographs. This will lead the viewer’s eye deeper into the scene, from waves crashing to the shore, to a piece of interesting driftwood to cracked mud on a pond. With foreground elements, get low with the tripod. Get close. Exaggerate the size of the foreground to make seem powerful and large, creating an epic shot.
