Luminar Neo 1.4.0: Clone, support for new cameras, and more

The Skylum Team is proud to present Luminar Neo Update 1.4.0!

Now Luminar Artists can use the long-anticipated Clone tool in their editing. Extensions are also improving: the HDR Merge Extension now gives results with reduced chromatic aberrations. 

Update 1.4.0 brings plenty of minor improvements to Luminar Neo’s usability, including a convenient selection preview on hover in the Catalog and a new look for headers in the Catalog, Presets, and Edits tabs. There’s also a useful grid in the Lens Distortion slider in the Optics tool.

Plus, enjoy support for new cameras including the Olympus OM-1,  Panasonic Lumix DC-GH6, and Canon EOS R3.

Last but not least, we’ve fixed a number of bugs. Now Luminar Neo works even more smoothly. Try out the improvements!

  • Transform a cropped image without changing its position on the canvas 
  • On macOS Ventura, edit smoothly in the Luminar Neo Apple Photos Extension
  • Switch from the Develop tool to the Crop tool and easily find the Crop transform tool

Luminar Neo 1.3.0: Welcome Noiseless AI Extension

In Luminar Neo Update 1.3.0 you get to unlock Noiseless AI, a new paid Extension for easily achieving professional results. Based on deep photo analysis, Noiseless AI determines the level of noise in a photo and suggests one of three noise reduction options — Low, Middle, or High — that can be applied in a click. You can also adjust the noise reduction level manually. Furthermore, the Luminosity, Color, and Details sliders give you even more control over the results.

Along with Noiseless AI, Update 1.3.0 brings plenty of minor improvements to Luminar Neo’s usability, including сolor gradients in the Warmth Sliders in Relight AI and an updated interface in the Edit tab.

Luminar Neo 1.2.0: HDR Merge extension, dodge & burn tool, bug fixes, and stability improvements

In the new Luminar Neo 1.2.0 Update, we introduce extensions — paid professional features that expand the capabilities of Luminar Neo. The first extension we’re releasing is HDR Merge, which can merge up to 10 exposure-bracketed images into a single HDR photo. HDR Merge delivers a spectacular level of color enhancement, making the final result look as close as possible to what the human eye can see. 

Also, something we know you’ve been waiting for — the Dodge & Burn tool is finally available in Luminar Neo with this update. We are committed to enhancing the experience of Luminar artists with quality of life features and improvements. Here is a list of the latest enhancements (more are on the way).

  • Add Tools to Favorites with visible animation on macOS
  • Rotate & Flip any photo from the Catalog
  • New interface for the EXIF panel

  • Browse Presets without experiencing memory leaks
  • Display correct radial masking coordinates when the Crop tool is applied
  • Apply brush strokes to your Layer image with the brushing mask without seeing parts of the underlying image appear

Luminar Neo 1.1.0 Update: Welcome Portrait Background Removal

The Luminar Neo 1.1.0 Update is here, bringing you the long-anticipated Portrait Background Removal feature.

Now you can select a human in your photo and automatically remove the background behind them — no tedious editing required. Achieve precise selections, enjoy a smart refinement brush, and save the portrait as a separate PNG file to use as you please. You can find this feature within the Masking options. It’s time to spark your creativity!

Additionally, there are lots of improvements for your Layers workflow. Enjoy support for raw files. On added Layers, use Fit, Fill, and Stretch in Image mapping and retain the desired proportions. Reorder Layers as you wish. Double-click the slider button to reset the Layer opacity to the default setting. Export PNG, TIFF, and JPEG2000 files with saved transparency (only when using Luminar Neo as a standalone app).

Plus, enjoy lots of small tweaks that make the interface even more pleasant: collapsing groups in Tools, updated Crop AI tools, and small changes to the Erase button.

Luminar Neo 1.0.5 Update: Presets improvements and more

Here comes the Luminar Neo 1.0.5 Update. Are you ready? There are lots of improvements for Presets: 

  • Access the Presets tab from the top menu bar
  • See all of a Preset’s built-in edits when applying it
  • Save your edits (including all applied Edit tools, Layers, and masking) as a custom Preset
  • Use Undo and Redo
  • View Presets using the T shortcut (or by selecting View > Presets in the menu)
  • Use the Revert on Preset button (reverts a photo to the state before entering the Presets tab)

Bug fixes

  • Close Develop Raw tool and don’t experience delay on further editing
  • Sync and load an image in single image view and see the correct aspect ratio
  • Add Loaded DCP from DNG files to the Recent part of the camera profile drop-down without a hitch
  • Resources are cleaned up smoothly after deleting an image
  • Work with Iris Flare on large images
  • Revert to the original image and have cached resources deleted as expected
  • Smoothly launch Luminar Neo: Luminar Neo now checks for redistribution files and installs them automatically, avoiding a crash on launch
  • Log in through a Google, Facebook, Apple ID, or Microsoft account without launching in trial mode

In the new Luminar Neo 1.0.2 Update, there is a lot to explore!

Now you can:

  • Sync your adjustments easily in the Catalog tab with Copy and Paste functionality
  • Use Image Transform to scale or transform your image, or manually adjust perspective distortion
  • Work with images in PNG format with alpha (transparency) in Layers
  • Enjoy a faster frame rate while using the drag slider on any effects
  • Switch the language for the app interface into Ukrainian
