Want to know why everyone's so excited about the new Sony A9?

Check out Skylum's favorite facts about it!

Sony has brought to the photography table one of the most innovative mirrorless cameras of all time. They’ve taken the best aspects and, with a commitment to their word of listening to their fans, the new Alpha 9 is a dream come true. It’s every sort of professional feature you could imagine in one beautiful compact body.

1. Blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second.

Sony Alpha 9 introduces the high-speed performance full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor, 24.2 MP resolution paired with a brand new BIONZ X processing engine. Watch these two work magic as they team up for 20fps continuous shooting.

That means 241 RAW images at a time. If you prefer JPEG mode, you can shoot 362 images at a time.

2. Highest-ever resolution Electronic Viewfinder (EVF).

The Quad-VGA OLED Tru-finder has luminance 2x higher than the a7RII’s XGA Electronic Viewfinder.

3. 693 Phase Detection AF Points

This insane phase-detection covers approximately 93% of the image area. Welcome to the most precise and accurate autofocus capability ever.

4. Shooting at speeds up to 1/32,000 sec

Electronic shutter speeds up to 1/32000 sec so you can keep your shallow depth of field without an ND filter (even during bright conditions).

5. 4K Movies at High-Resolution

Sony Alpha delivers highest possible quality 4K movies thanks to full pixel readout without pixel binning to collect 6K of information and oversampling it to produce high-quality 4K footage without binning.

6. Double Battery Life, Double Memory

Shoot for longer with all-new Sony battery that has 2.2x the capacity of previous Sony full-frame models.

Also, A 9 delivers Dual Media Slots. One slot for SF and one for SD/Memory Stick cards means you can backup still/movie date, copy between cards and also save RAW/JPEG images to different cards.

7. Body-integrated Image Stabilization

Sony didn’t leave out the 5-axis image stabilization for your handheld shooting. Say farewell to camera shake and fine-tune your shooting.
