Luminar named “Best Photo Editing Software” by EISA

Skylum recognized for revolutionary machine-learning tools like Accent AI and AI Sky Enhancer, as well as its continued innovation in the photo editing space.

BELLEVUE, WA - August 15, 2019 — This morning, the Expert Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) awarded Skylum’s Luminar software an award for Best Photo Editing Software. EISA cited Luminar’s ability to automate time-consuming tasks through artificial intelligence.

Luminar was judged by 17 international photography magazines for the EISA award. It follows the software being awarded Best Imaging Software by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) earlier this year.

“Skylum’s Luminar 3, soon to witness an update to v4, is an image-editing program for Mac OS and Windows that allows photographers of all skill levels to optimise their pictures with just a few mouse clicks — and with stunning results,” reads the award citation. “This is made possible thanks to artificial intelligence technology. Editing, selecting and masking are all automated, and suddenly these tedious tasks that previously could only be done manually are now achieved within a second.”

Luminar 3 was initially released in December 2018, and is an all-in-one photo editor and management platform that lets photographers harness the power of machine-learning and simple yet powerful and precise editing tools in their workflow. Skylum is readying to release Luminar 4 this fall, which will include several new features such as the world’s first automated AI Sky Replacement tool.

“We’re so excited that EISA has chosen Luminar as ‘Best Photo Editing Software,” said Alex Tsepko, CEO of Skylum. “As we’ve developed Luminar over the past few years, we’ve built it into a piece of software that helps photographers enhance their images like never before, through innovative technologies that can’t be found anywhere else. With Luminar 4 on the horizon, we can’t wait to see the exciting new technologies we’ve developed be put to use.”

The machine-learning tools that Luminar 3 includes were developed in Skylum’s AI Lab. Skylum has invested in the nascent field over the last several years, helping to bring photographers these one-of-a-kind tools that ease common image editing headaches. Through these tools, a single smart slider can complete the work of several tools, saving time and enabling casual photographers to achieve pro-like results quickly and easily.
